Another First for the Little Guy

And seriously, this is a first I could have done without!

Let me preface by saying that I am frequently "on-time" challenged and I'm always rushing out of the house with Andrew in the mornings to get him to the babysitter and me to school on time. This morning was no exception. I had the car all loaded up and just needed to wake up Andrew and put him in the car and hit the road. There was not a minute to spare. I woke up my sweet boy, he slowly sat up in his crib, then started throwing up. Repeatedly. Then the crying started. His, not mine. He's 22 months old and this has never happened before.

I called Brian and the hospital and told him that he needed to come home ASAP, that I couldn't possibly take Andy to the babysitter and that I couldn't miss school today either. Then I called the teacher in the room next to me and asked her to take in my class and get them started for the day. Then I called and canceled with the babysitter. Then began the task of cleaning up the pukey boy. I didn't even bother with the bedding, figuring that was a perfect job for Brian. I also started thinking that I might be over reacting and making a mountain out of a molehill. I changed my mind though after my sweet boy puked three more times before Brian even made it home.

Poor sicky boy continued this way for the next 3 hours before finally taking about a 3 hour nap and waking up like a new kid. By the time I got home he was napping again, but when he did get up he was ready to eat. Andrew did well with some chicken soup, banana, and crackers. Later, when Brian and I ate he slurped down lots of watermelon jello. Then it was off to bathtime and bed, and he seems good as new.

I hope tomorrow gets off to a much better start.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes, I really appreciate it!

Well Chris, you have definitely been initiated into motherhood. (You thought the pee fountain was one, ha!) Nothing says "Mom" like taking care of a puking child and trying not to puke yourself. Good job! I remember when I had the puking Mitchell and I was crying too because it was out of my control. (And good call waiting for Brian to take care of the bed linens :oP )
