We enjoyed the zoo visit so much that we opted to become "members" for the year. It's unlikely that we'll be back soon enough to enjoy more free parking, but we will enjoy the periodicals mailed to our home, the satisfaction of financially supporting such a worthy cause, the tax deduction, and Andy's stuffed panda.
Random ramblings of life in our household . . . and our journey through infertility and our arrival on the other side as we live life with our precious little boy brought to us through the gift of open domestic adoption.

The Zoo!
Our first official outing took us into DC to go to the National Zoo. Now I know why this is a AAA "gem" as it was a pretty cool zoo, and free, to boot! However, even more exciting than seeing the pandas and baby gorilla is that I finally got to meet Lindsay, one of my bestest bloggin' buddies, and her adorable munchkin, Fred.
The two boys hit it off together great (as did us girls!) and they really enjoyed seeing all of the animals.
At one point an orangutan (with a sheet) came right up to the glass and put his hand up against Fred's. It was so cute! And really, I have no idea why the animals have sheets. However, it was interesting to watch them cover themselves up with them as they got ready to nap.
