  1. There is nothing wrong with trying again but remember that there are other options as well, so all is not lost if you don't decide to go ahead with IVF.

  2. I voted yes. If money (i.e. insurance coverage) is not a problem, then why not? If you can go through it again mentally, emotionally and physically, you should.

  3. It wouldn't be free by any stretch of the imagination, but could be about half of what our last cycle was. So many things to consider. . .

    Hi Chris -
You don't know me but I stumbled on your blog a few weeks back and have been an avid lurker ever since! I have twins from IVF ... my THIRD IVF (the first was a miscarriage, the second was just negative). I voted yes. The doctors do get a better feel for your body as they go, so I do think a second try may be worth it. Whatever you decide ... and whatever the outcome, I pray that God will make your life rich with His love and blessing.

  5. My experience is different (in Massachusetts, 3 IVF cycles are covered). When we had a BFN after the first cycle, I had no doubt that I would do the 2nd cycle. I had heard that the average success rate for IVF is 2.6 times (not sure where I heard this--I think my Dr. said this). In the middle of my 2nd cycle, I started to wonder--would I do it for the 3rd cycle--could I? Money was not in the process, but the emotional roller coaster, the waiting and preparation, the worry about what if it did not work, scheduling my whole life around it, not to mention my health. Talking it over with my husband, we had decided that if we did not try, we would regret it the rest of our life. As you get older, IVF becomes more of a risk/gamble. And, if it did not work, we felt, the other options were still available.

  6. I also voted yes, I agree with anon...your doctors learn so much about you from your first IVF and so they do things differently the next time round. I definately think you deserve another shot, hell I would (even tho it's not the most pleasant thing in the world)

Hope you doing okay and being good to yourself, thinking of you xxx

  7. I also voted yes - for many of the reasons above. I think it usually turns out that we regret the things we do not do so much more than the things we go ahead and do. The insurance upgrade could be the "good thing" you were waiting for! Good luck and praying for you whatever you decide!

  8. I am going through 40 Days of Purpose (again) at church and in our small group. I ran across something that screamed "Share this with Chris". Yes! I said "Screamed". I actually made bookmarks for our group with the following:

"God...is able to do far more than we would ever dare or even dream of - infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts and hopes." 2 Corinthians 4:18

No matter what you decide, remember this.

(BTW - I'm curious to know who voted "no".)

    Love ya!

  9. I voted yes. For me, if a portion of it was covered by insurance I'd head straight to IVF and skip all the IUI's. I think the thing you guys really need to talk about (and I'm sure you already have) is, are you emotionally and mentally ready to keep going, or did this BFN seal the deal already in your minds and you're ready to move forward to something else. But like someone else said, if somewhere down the road you think you're going to regret passing on another IVF cycle then perhaps you guys should do another one.

Much love to you...I know this is not an easy decision for you to make.

  10. I voted yes as your doctor was encouraging and the insurance will help with the financial damage a bit. My doctor has told me she will cut me off very soon - that I have tried enough and unless I want to go to donor egg, she won't continue to treat me. I trust that your doctor would tell you the same thing if that was the case. But he hasn't - he's encouraged. I think you should trust him - at least one more time. If it works, you'll be in a great place and if it doesn't, well, you'll be right where you are right now (minus a few thousand dollars) and then you can still move on to the next thing. Those are my two cents. Sorry it's been such an emotional roller coaster lately.

You know I'm a gambler, so my vote is yes. We have always made what we think are calculated decisions about things, seldom any impulsive things, except that painting we bought one time. I vote yes because I think it's what you want. We have always wanted for you what you want, except we hope you don't get any more tattoos or have things pierced, stuff like that. Oh, and keep Brian, too.

  12. I think this is between you & the hubby. I am trying to decide what to do next and it is so hard to make a decision. Someone once told me that if you want to be a mama, you will find a way to make it happen. Remember-there are tons of other options out there!

  13. I said yes. I pre-paid for 4 cycles. All the literature that I have read states that the cumulative success rate for more than 1 cycle is much higher than doing one cycle alone. And, during the first cycle, the doctors can get a feel for how you respond to the meds, etc. If you don't do it, won't you always wonder what if you had? I know there are other options, and you have to really look deep down inside and see if you can go through it again emotionally....but if you can, I say go for it.

  14. I vote yes, but only if you are emotionally, physically and financially ready for round two. I wouldn't want you to get anymore burned out than you are.

But I support you 150% in whatever you choose to do. XOXO
