Abandoned Blog

I'm sure you may think that I've abandoned this blog . . . but I really haven't, it just seems like it!

Apparently, I still suffer from inferior time management skills. It makes absolutely no sense that I've had even less free time when I'm not even working right now! I had all sorts of expectations for what I would do with my free time this summer. Guess what? I haven't had any free time.

Today was my first official day back to work at school. The kids show up on Monday. I've been working on my classroom since last Thursday. What? It's still the middle of the summer? Yeah, tell me about it. For some reason the great state of Arizona thinks it makes sense to start school during the hottest, most miserable weeks of the year. I don't get it. I may complain about it now, but when I get a 2 week vacation in October (when we get to go to Baltimore!)
and another 2 weeks in March (in addition to 2 weeks at Christmas), I won't be complaining.

And even though I'm complaining about starting school in the middle of a wicked hot spell, I'm not complaining about the start of a new school year. I love the beginning of a new school year. I love the organizing and preparing. I love getting to know a fresh batch of kids. I love it all.

Even though the last week has been busy with school prep, I've still had some really good Andy-time. First up you will notice his 1 year picture with his teddy bear. Not such a great picture. Get this, he won't just sit calmly with the darn bear anymore! I'm thinking that I may try it again this weekend . . .

Mostly though, my boy is just plain silly. He cracks himself, and everyone else up. I just love his smiles, giggles, funny faces, and raspberry blowing. Even if he is the messiest eater alive.

I just don't know how we got so lucky, but you better believe that I thank God every single day.
I have lots of other things I want to blog about, but it will have to wait for now. B is at the Diamondbacks game tonight and Andy is asleep. As soon as I finish putting together business card magnets for the parents of my students I have some serious plans. I'm going to take a bubble bath and read for a little bit. And I'll be reading a trashy novel, nothing related to teaching strategies or anything else appearing to be school related. Then I'll peek in on my snoozing boy and thank my lucky stars before going to bed.

  2. I know what you mean about free time and not getting anything done. I was unemployed for four months, thought I would have time to get some things done...um, nope! Pictures of Andrew are as always welcome if you don't have time to post! :-)

  3. Ugh! Tried to leave a comment and it didn't work. :)

I love the pics of Andy! He is just so perfect and precious and adorable - I need to see him - and his mommy - soon!

We start school on Monday too - we're getting a week in October for the first time. Crazy busy with prep over in my neck of the woods as well.

Check out my blog when you get a minute, though. :)

We start on the 19th. Time flies. It's funny, I found when I worked full time I got more done. I have stayed home for 15 years now and I still can't get anything done. Of course family time is much more fun that any chore could ever hope to be. So enjoy family and Andy time and everything else will get done if needed. Have fun at school. Laurie

PS I wish I would have done the monthly bear picture. I love it.
