However, our white Christmas is courtesy of cotton ready for harvest. Our fair city was founded during World War II by a major tire manufacturer who discovered that they could grow Egyptian style cotton just perfectly right here. Nearly 70 years later cotton fields still populate a major part of our city, though there are fewer and fewer each year.
Ashley got a brief lesson in picking cotton last weekend, and learned that clothes, in fact, do grow on trees.
so sad that there are fewer and fewer fiels. same here, less and less produce fields.
