What's On My Mind

First of all, I have to thank all of you for the tremendous support that I have received here in the form of comments, private emails, and even phone calls from my friends. It means the world to me that even when you don't know what to say, you do say something and let me know that you do, in fact, care. Silence makes me feel that you don't care and that our troubles are insignificant. And that breaks my heart even more. I'm truly amazed at the support and understanding I have received from people I've never even met before.

I have been stumbling around the house in a haze for days, not being able to focus on anything and definitely feeling the physical effects of stress and anxiety. This morning I picked up one of my favorite books, that always, no matter which page I turn to, can help to make me feel better and give me some perspective. For some reason I guess I haven't really wanted to feel better, but today I reached for the book.

Today I'm sharing again from "Moments for Couples Who Long for Children" by Ginger Garrett.

The Question Why

1 Corrinthians warns us not to peer too closely at the surface of events if we want to see the real answer. In fact, God tells us that we see only "a poor reflection" of life. God promises that when we see Him face-to-face in heaven, we will understand the "why" of our lives. C.S. Lewis describes that moment: "The bad dream will be over: it will be morning."

On earth, our questions often go unanswered. But while we still dream on earth, God has told us how we are to live: by faith, hope, and love. By faith, believing that God loves us and is at work in our situation, even when all evidence seems contrary. By hope, believing God can work unexpected miracles at unlikely times and that He has a plan for our redemption. And by love, reaching out to others to share the contentment we have found in Christ even as we wait.

God promises that although many of our questions must go unanswered for today, these three comforts will sustain us until we finally see Him face-t0-face.

Lord, circumstances can be so cruel; to know the answer
"why" seems aboslutely critical. It feels like the only evi-
dence confirming You as a good and capable God. You
know how important the question "why" is to us, and
You promise to answer it . . . someday. Thank you for
showing us how to live with the question still unan-
swered. Help us today to continue by faith, hope and
Your love.
