State of Mind: Overwhelmed!

My lack of blogging has not been due to a lack of blogging material, but rather, an unending feeling of being completely overwhelmed! As a result, I've been pathetically unproductive when it comes to completing even the most basic of household tasks. I flitter from one thing to another to another and never manage to get anything done.

Holy Cow! We are going to have a baby soon!

On Thursday I had lunch with my friend, Heather, and afterwards we went shopping for baby gear. Well, I suppose "browsing" would be more accurate, as I didn't actually buy anything. I just couldn't make a decision. That evening B and I went out again and found ourselves at the giant baby stuff store. We finally decided to start a registry because I kept making the same decisions over and over again and I needed to find a way to stay organized. However, after just a little while we needed to leave because I just couldn't be in the store anymore.

On Friday, the 4th of July, we both stayed home all day to work on various projects. B cleaned out the closet in the office, and I removed all of my scrapbooking stuff from the room that will one day house a real live baby and moved it into another guest room. All that remains in the room is a twin bed and dresser, and a bookshelf with toys and books in the closet.

On Saturday I went and did more shopping with my mom. She bought us a couple of things for the baby, and I did a little more registering. Again, after a little while I just had to get out of the giant baby stuff store. So, we had some lunch and then went to Kohls to shop for a "coming home" outfit for the baby. Later that afternoon B and I went over to the birth parent's home for a vist. We met their kids, as well as his parents. At first we were nervous, but we were quickly put at ease when we were hugged and congratulated by his parents. The entire family is wonderful and we consider ourselves to blessed to have been matched with them. It was really nice getting to know each other in a casual setting.

Sunday was actually a nice, relaxing day. We went to church, ran a couple of errands, then spent some time relaxing at home before going to my parent's house for dinner.

Yesterday I tagged along to our birth mom's OB appointment. Unfortunatley, the doctor didn't have time to do an ultrasound, but we did get to hear a nice strong heartbeat. Even better, the doctor isn't worried about pre-term labor anymore, since she is now 34 weeks. Our birth mom is still on medication to slow down her contractions, though it isn't working well. Next week there will be another ultrasound to see if the baby is still breach or not. If so, a c-section will be scheduled for when she reaches 38 weeks, which will be around Aug. 5th. Oh my gosh! That's so close! And it could be closer since she delivered her last child at 36 weeks! See? Completely overwhelming!

  1. I have been WAITING for an update from you!! I didn't want to bother you since I figured you were overwhelmed...but it's great to hear from you! Okay, so it wasn't that long since I saw you last and we browsed for hours, but still...it seems like a long time already! Anywho, you are all still in our prayers, and we continue to be so incredibly excited for you!

  2. Ever wonder once the baby comes if you'll ever blog again? No matter - it's just great to read about things and know you have a such a strong support system. Being in another state isn't the greatest when you want to spend time and help. But I know that I'll get to see you soon (the THREE of you). Resting on God's abiding love and trusting Him to watch over you. M
