Adding Insult to Injury

As I have whined many times before we have paid for all of our fertility medications and treatments out of pocket because our medical insurance does not cover anything in regards to infertility. Infertility is the cause of us now being in debt. As happens every fall, it is time for Brian to review his benefits package for our insurance options. And get this, beginning in 2008 they are offering infertility coverage. Not a lot, but up to $5,000. Even more amazing, every infertility drug I have ever used now appears on the formulary. For a $30 co-pay. Did I mention that I went through $4,500 worth of medications during this IVF cycle?

As Brian just said, if we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all.

Oh, and Aunt Flo finally arrived this morning. And I am so ready to be done.

When is something good going to happen?

  4. Hi Chris. I found you via Kristen, and just wanted to say how sorry I am that this cycle didn't work for you (I am the Queen of bad luck myself lately, so I can commiserate). I hope it turns around for you really soon.

Oh, and on the baseball question... I voted Rockies because they beat my team the Phillies, and to make sense of that fact I need to know were were not shut out by a losing team. :-)

  5. Hey Chris.

I feel your pain - and am so sorry about the cycle not working. It is really a pit of despair, isn't it?

Try to take good care of yourself in the coming weeks, and I'll be thinking of you...

  8. Hi Chris,
We have to pay for our IF expenses out of pocket too. Our insurance has that $5,000 lifetime max and to be serious...we maxed that out a loooooong time ago. But on the brighter side, you now have this benefit if you decide you are ready to do it again. Who knows? Without the financial stress, it may be worth it...?
    Hugz!
